The next time you see a Black medical doctor (male or female) please be sure to thank them for being treated as intellectually inferior while in med school, yet persevered and finished. Please thank them for being treated like shit by their oftentimes White Attending Doctors/Supervisors on a daily basis during residency. Thank them for going through residency while listening to Attending/Supervisor doctors brag about their dick size and other random racist and sexist bullshit in the Operating Room.
Especially give a thanks to Black resident doctors (male and female). Thank them for committing to go through 3 - 4 years of residency which is pure HELL for Black resident doctors. Thank them for the long hours they work, and being made to feel stupid by their White Attending/Supervisor counterparts. Thank them for crying in secret. Thank them for being embarrassed by White Attending/Supervisor doctors in front of patients and nurses.
Thank for for unjustly failing rotations due to racist and sexist Attending/Supervisor doctors who come to work full of personal problems and release their anger on Black resident doctors by nitpicking and creating hostile work environments...
"...oh, did you think racism and sexism didn't exist among medical doctors? Of course it does, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is a system in play to make sure most Black doctors never make it through residency...can't have those Negroes making 200k - 350k a year, feel me?!"
The next time you see a Black doctor tell him or her "I thank God for you. I trust you. I'm praying for you. Everything is going to be alright!"
