Choosing Fatherhood America's Second Chance

By: Jim Allen

I'm reading an amazing book called Choosing Fatherhood America's Second Chance. I highly recommend this book for (ALL) fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers and even mentors. The photography of various fathers with their children is simply awesome. The stories are guaranteed to make you cry, think, smile and transform into being a better man and most of all a better father/dad. I've always said the greatest fraternity is FATHERHOOD and this book proves just that. This book is a must Father's Day gift. Below are some excerpts from the book I posted to my facebook page.

Despite the multitudes of changes that fathers experienced during the past several centuries, fatherhood did not emerge as a major focus in social science research until the 1970's, coinciding with notions about the "new nurturing father" - from the book Choosing Fatherhood America's Second Chance.

The importance of the paternal role, particularly for middle-class adult Caucasian males, is said to have originated in the colonial era of U.S. history, when a father was considered the dominant parent and assumed the role of "the moral teacher". During this time, work and family life were interconnected, and fathers interacted closely and frequently with children. Paternal duties included supervision of child-rearing activities and decision-making power in economic, legal, medical matters, and, in particular, moral and religious guidance. Evidence indicates that fatherhood in American Indian and African-American families during this era may have exhibited a wider range of emotional expression than that demonstrated in European-American cultures. - Pg. 139 from the book Choosing Fatherhood America's Second Chance.

Beginning in the nineteenth century, the system of labor during the Industrial Revolution took the agrarian father out of the family and placed him in factories and offices. This separated him from his son, who had been working along his side and who had been learning from him directly - from the book: Choosing Fatherhood America's Second Chance.

"...being a good father means building a strong family, an act that traverses time. Being a good father reverberates long beyond our own life spans as an echo across the ages. The absence of a father has a similarly long-lasting impact" - from the book: Choosing Fatherhood America's Second Chance.

"Recently, the Brookings Institute declared that the state of fatherhood in the United States is among the most serious problems confronting the nation: equal to or greater than the economy, education, the environment, health care, infrastructure, poverty, you name it" - from the book Choosing Fatherhood America's Second Chance.

"...the United States of America, more than 24,000,000 children are living with no fathers present to help raise the kids" - from the book: Choosing Fatherhood America's Second Chance.

It's important to note this book is the work and genius of Lewis Kostiner a multimillionaire businessman and world renown photographer. Mr. Kostiner also touches on his inner demons relative to his biological father not being in his life. Oftentimes we tend to think fatherless homes are an African-American phenomenon when in fact its more so an American crisis.

Lewis Kostiner and his wife Anne Kostiner

This book is different from the rest because it focuses on fathers regardless of their socioeconomic status trying their best to positively impact the lives of their children. Choosing Fatherhood America's Second Chance gives social science stats, but also gives real life solutions for fathers to succeed. Such solutions are unique and have been proven because the solutions come from the testimony of the fathers featured in the book. Thus the book isn't theory but a pragmatic, didactic yet simple way to be a great father/dad. Please order this book by clicking the below LINKS:
